The value of your current iPhone is likely to drop 20% or more next week.

The introduction of new iPhones always depresses the value of older ones. The same holds true for AirPods, iPads, Apple Watches and whatever else Apple unveils during Monday’s “It’s Glowtime” event.

Luckily, Cult of Mac’s buyback program will guarantee the current trade-in value of your old Apple device if you act now and lock in the price.

Just head over to our buyback page, find the device you want to trade in, and start the buyback process. In a few days, you’ll receive a prepaid mailing box — and then a nice fat check.

Now is the time to secure the best possible price for your old iPhone trade-in.

With next week’s impending iPhone 16 reveal, excitement abounds! However, one downside of the “It’s Glowtime” event is the impending drop in value of your iPhone trade-in.

Every year, newer models push older iPhones, Apple Watches and MacBooks further and further down the path to obsolescence. But there’s good news: Cult of Mac will still buy your old devices. And we’ll help you maximize the money you get for your iPhone trade-in, too.

How will new Apple devices affect resale values?

Several factors affect how much a device drops in value. This year, predicting iPhone trade-in values proves a little more interesting than usual. Older iPhones, and in fact all older Apple devices, likely will see significant dips because of Apple Intelligence. The new AI features will only work on the latest devices.

Apple designed the iPhone 16 for Apple Intelligence. Only the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max possess enough processing power to make them compatible with the latest AI features. This obviously makes older devices much less valuable. iPads and MacBooks face similar limitations: Apple Intelligence will only work on models with an Apple M1 chip or better.

The new Apple Watch — the tenth-anniversary Series 10 — sounds like a significant upgrade, with a flatter body and a nice big screen. If it’s as hot as the rumors suggest, it’ll get a lot of Apple Watch users to upgrade. The Apple Watch Ultra, on the other hand, sounds like a lesser upgrade, and may not be a hot item this year.

Our buyback partners at MyPhones Unlimited handle thousands of devices each year. They predict that the resale values of iPhone 15 models will drop in value by 10% the week of the launch. Then, those models likely will lose an additional 10% over the next 30 days.

They also project Apple Watches to lose about 20% of their overall value in the month following the release of an upgraded model. In fact, some older Apple Watches could be worth almost nothing by the end of the year.

Likewise, if Apple unveils new iPads or MacBooks in October, you can expect similar drops in resale values.

Secure the highest price for your iPhone trade-in

The Cult of Mac buyback program allows you to lock in your iPhone trade-in price for 14 days. We highly recommend taking advantage of that generosity during this period of tumultuous iPhone price drops.

If you know you’ll get your new iPhone 16 in a week, go ahead and request a trade-in now — because the price will likely be lower by the time your new phone arrives.

Some websites offer 30-day lock-ins. However, that just means they started with a lower overall price to protect themselves from the inevitable depreciation caused by a new model. Our 14-day policy was established to offer consumers the highest possible price.

Our lean, green iPhone buyback program is here to help Apple fans like you afford the cost of an upgrade to the latest, greatest devices. Visit the Cult of Mac buyback program site today and get a quick quote. We buy used iPhones, Apple Watches, iPads, MacBooks, iPods and more.

You might be surprised how much your old Apple gear is worth. But you’d better act fast to get the best possible price.
