Easily add CarPlay to your vehicle

This portable touchscreen is big, bright and on sale.

Earlier this year, I went in search of a cheap and easy way to add CarPlay to my old, beaten-up truck.

Swapping out the head unit wasn’t an option, so I started looking into cheap Fire tablets from Amazon and an inexpensive CarPlay adapter, which plugs into the tablet via USB.

It took a while to figure out the right combo of tablet, adapter and wireless charger, but in the end it works well — and was indeed inexpensive because I got a refurb tablet that was also on sale.

But there’s a mess of wires, and my DIY rig is fiddly to set up and stash away. (That’s essential here in San Francisco, where my car will get broken into if I leave even a dime on the dashboard.)

At the time, I wasn’t aware of standalone screens that do essentially the same thing: They’re still pretty new on the market.

These screens make it dead easy to add CarPlay (or Android Auto, ugh) to just about any vehicle.

And look at this one below: It’s got a nice big 10-inch widescreen display with touch controls. Plus built-in speakers and microphone for hands-free calls. You can plug it into your car’s stereo or backup camera.

It looks easy to detach and stash in a glovebox and costs less — when it’s on sale — than my Fire tablet/adapter combo.

I’m definitely interested in this unit myself, and may swap it in for my homegrown solution.

But it’s on sale only through today, so don’t delay if you’re also interested.

P.S. If you’re looking for a great last-minute gift, you can’t go wrong with a nice, fresh copy of Microsoft Office for Mac, which is on sale for just $29.97 right now. Just kidding, but the software suite regularly costs $229, so you’ll look like a Silicon Valley big shot if you do gift it. Imagine the squeals of joy.

10-inch touchscreen car display gives you CarPlay (or Android Auto) for just $110

For a limited time, it’s cheaper than you’d imagine to add a CarPlay display to any vehicle. This affordable car touchscreen works with Android Auto, too.

How budget-friendly is it? You can currently purchase this 10-inch wireless touchscreen car display that works with both major infotainment platforms for only $109.97 (regularly $199). That’s more than 40% off a car accessory that supplies access to various helpful and safety-focused features.

Car touchscreen: Add CarPlay display for major upgrade

Sure, you could roll your own DIY hack to add CarPlay to an older automobile without a built-in screen. But this car accessory is extremely affordable and effortless to install.

Plus, it delivers excellent features that will quickly make you a CarPlay fan. From navigation, calls and messaging to sorting through streaming music and podcasts while on the move, this wireless car display packs plenty into its 10-inch touchscreen.

If your car features a rear camera, this device will automatically switch to that screen to assist. Just shift your car into reverse, and the screen will reflect what’s behind your vehicle and even provide useful guidelines.

This display also supports hands-free Bluetooth calling to keep drivers connected and safe. It also can access the real-time FM radio dial at any time, allowing you to scan for tunes, catch a live sports broadcast or keep tabs on traffic updates.

In addition, this 10-inch wireless display allows for effortless navigation with real-time maps, whether with Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze. No more fumbling on your phone to scan through directions. Plus, a built-in speaker provides crisp, clear audio, whether you’re jamming to a playlist or listening to a podcast.

Along with the car display, your purchase comes with a power cord, mounting bracket, aux cable, GPS antenna and other accessories.

Affordable CarPlay display will update almost any car

Bring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and other handy tools into any car with this 10-inch Wireless Car Display. It’s on sale for just $109.97 for a limited time.
