I know this makes me sound like a terrible father, but when our kids were little, I started wearing earbuds to sleep.

If I was awakened, I could never get back to sleep, so my wife had to deal with nighttime disturbances! Yeah, husband of the year and all, but without my beauty sleep, the entire day would be wrecked. (Wifey had no such problems.)
